One of Australian rugby’s all-time greats, Michael Hooper, retired from international duty this week after being omitted from the Olympics sevens team that’s going to Paris in July.
Hooper made his Test debut in 2012, was the youngest ever captain of the Wallabies at 23 in 2014, and captained the national team a record 69 times in his 125 appearances.
Back in November 2012, Rugby World noticed that the young man might have something special about him, featuring him as a rising star of the game, reporting that, “Trying to fulfil the injured David Pocock’s scavenger role for the Wallabies is an unenviable task, but it’s one that Hooper has undertaken admirably.”
