The Cheltenham Festival is upon us this week, one of the biggest events in the racing calendar, and naturally enough, Horse & Hound has given it plenty of coverage over the years.

Back in 2005, they sought out amateur rider Marc Barber who, to that point, had had just the one ride at the Festival. Looking ahead to two more races to come, Barber summed up the Christmas Eve feeling that all devotees were feeling as Cheltenham approached.

“I didn’t think the atmosphere could be so brilliant. You’re riding on Gold Cup day and you get this feeling that makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck. The place is electric.”

There’s plenty more on the Festival, including 55 reasons to make sure you’re there – Guinness is one of them. Read all about it here.
