‘From Norwich – it’s the quiz of the week!’ Readers of a certain age will recall the intro to ITV’s ‘Sale of the Century’ one of the most popular quiz shows of the 1970s, which featured on TV Times’ front cover in October 1976.
Inside the magazine though, there was a feature on a programme called ‘Saturday’s Heroes’, which covered a young footballer making his way in the game – Crystal Palace’s Vince Hilaire. The article asked the question, would he be ‘the first black footballer to play for England?’

They could change the style of the game within a few years.”
