Just like the rest of us, horses don’t always get all the vitamins and minerals they need just from their diet alone, particularly horses required to compete in races, shows or, whisper it, at stud.

 

Top trainers and breeders and trainers such as Fred Rimell, Bill Johnson and David Mould had long since been slipping their horses a drop of Convital to make sure they were in fine fettle, but in the 25 August 1972 edition of Horse & Hound, Convital revealed that the treatment was now going to be available to the general public. Selling them in Boots might have made for some interesting mistakes mind you.
