The use of illustrations has tended to take a more satirical edge as time has gone by and FourFourTwo certainly used that approach in March 2006 when they wanted to illustrate an article on the changing face of football fandom since the arrival of the Premier League in 1992.
Based upon a book by Katharine Jones, a sociology professor at Philadelphia University, it was a fascinating article about how the nature of following the game was in flux, born out of the bubbling cauldron of new stadia, foreign ownership, television and the advent of superstars being followed every bit as closely as teams.
