Seen as one of the greatest of all-time during his life, Ayrton Senna’s reputation has only grown in the years following his tragic death at Imola in May 1994.

To celebrate the release of a film about his life in June 2011, Autosport featured a special look at some of Senna’s greatest moments, as described by those who were there at the time – Martin Brundle, Ron Dennis, Patrick Head and Gerhard Berger among them.

It’s the image of Senna that starts the piece that stands out as much as anything though, capturing the steely focus, the absolute self-belief and the calm before the storm prior to heading out onto the track.
